Warner gewinnt den Preis für die bescheuertste Blu-ray des Jahres. Und das betrifft ausgerechnet einen der besten Filme des Jahres: The Dark Knight.
Warner hat sich tatsächlich dazu entschlossen, nur die IMAX-Version auf Blu-ray zu bringen. D.h. der Film wechselt dann ständig zwischen zwei Bildformaten. Der Großteil des Films läuft in 2.40:1, die IMAX-Szenen aber in 1.78:1.
Es gibt sechs IMAX-Sequenzen, ergo wechselt das Format während des Filmsehens insgesamt elf mal. Der Clou ist dabei, dass dies nicht optional ist! Trotz Branching und Angle-Möglichkeit des Blu-ray Mediums. (Disney scheint überdies das einzige Studio zu sein, welches sich diesen technischen Meisterleistungen bedient. Und das bereits seit der DVD-Ära.)
Wer wissen will, wie beknackt das wird, der kann sich schonmal den TDK-Prolog auf der Begins-BD anschauen.
Ich verstehe es nicht...es will mir nicht in den Kopf. Was soll das?!
Ich sehe die Neuauflage als Collector's Edition ("erstmalig in der Kinofassung!") schon vor meinem geistigen Auge.
TDK wird wohl wieder mal ein Film, den ich mir auf DVD kaufe. Trotz der schwächeren Bildqualität. Ich habe nichts gegen einen Formatwechsel, wenn er dazu da ist, die Story zu untermalen (bspw. Disneys Bärenbrüder oder Der Pferdeflüsterer und da jeweils nur einmal) aber TDK macht einen dann doch ganz deppert beim Anschauen.

"The widescreen versions of the DVD will present the film in a 2.40:1 anamorphic widescreen aspect ratio, reproducing the standard theatrical experience of the film. For the Blu-ray Disc however, while most of the film will also be presented in the 2.40:1 anamorphic widescreen ratio, the scenes that were specifically shot in IMAX format will be presented at 1.78:1, which will fill the frame and will thus recreate the IMAX experience at home. This is not via seamless branching (you can't turn it off)."

Mittlerweile hat sich Regisseur Christopher Nolan zum Thema geäußert:
"Director Christopher Nolan has confirmed that on the Blu-ray release, the film will swap between a 2.40:1 aspect ratio for scenes shot on 35mm and full sized widescreen 1.78:1 for the IMAX scenes (IMAX is shot in 1.66:1 so a little bit of the top and bottom of the IMAX image will be lost)."

Damit ist unmissverständlich klar: Die Disc wird im Format wechseln. Die Kinoversion gibt es nur auf DVD. Für mich ist die Sache damit klar: Die DVD wandert in meine Sammlung.
