HBO plant Streaming-Angebot für unter 10 Euro/Monat für Europa

Lange von Fans (und Raubkopierern) gefordert, bald Realität. HBO hat einen Streaming-Service für Europa angekündigt, dem dem Kunden für weniger als 10 Euro pro Monat HBO-Filme und-Serien streamen können. Auch Programme der HBO-Rivalen Showtime und Starz sind geplant.

HBO-Serien sind bspw: Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire, Treme, Die Sopranos, Six Feet Under, Deadwood, Rome, Sex and the City, Girls, Entourage, Enlightenment, Band of Brothers, The Pacific, From the Earth to the Moon, Carnivale, The Newsroom, True Blood u.v.m.

SHO-Serien sind u.a. Dexter, Californication, Shameless, United States of Tara, The Big C, L Word, Weeds usw.

Starz-Serien: Spartacus, The Boss u.a.

Knackpunkt: Ausgerechnet die deutschsprachigen Länder gehen leer aus.

In mid-October, HBO will sell streaming subscriptions to non-cable customers for the first time, but it won't be for customers in the US, Variety reports. The premium TV network announced its plans in Stockholm today, and as Variety reports, the new service, called HBO Nordic AB, will launch in Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Denmark. According to the report, the service will cost under €10 per month (about $12.50), and the service will also include content from HBO's competitors, including Showtime and Starz.

HBO hat in Deutschland derzeit einen Vertrag mit Sky. Über den Sender Sky Atlantic werden die meisten HBO-Programme ausgestrahlt und teilweise per Sky Go auch im Originalton gestreamt. Ein Hoffnungsschimmer: Derzeit gibt es Pläne, Sky Go auch als Einzelangebot (ohne TV-Abo) anzubieten.
