Satoshi Kon is a Japanese director, screenwriter, and animator. A key member of the animation studio Madhouse, he is one of the most celebrated anime directors in the world, and one of the few who have had a strong impact outside of Japan. His passing leaves a void in the animation industry which might never be filled again. While there are other talented directors and storytellers, there are none who capture the same dreamlike feeling his films invoked regardless of genre, and it is unlikely that we will see animated films like those he made ever again.

Title: The Dream Machine
Year of release: 2011 (?)
Format: Movie
Summary: The latest film Kon was working on before his death. He referred to it as a "road movie" featuring only robot characters. The target audience is meant to be a younger crowd, but he mentioned that those who enjoy his films will definitely feel at home. As of now it is unknown if the movie will be completed (it's likely), or who will be taking over his responsibilities on the project. -_-

Aus dem öffentlichen Abschiedsbrief seiner Website:

Satoshi Kon schrieb:
With feelings of gratitude for all that is good in this world, I put down my pen.

Well, I'll be leaving now.

Traurig.

Ruhe in Frieden.
